The unromantic chick flick, The Break-Up, starring Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston is a heartless mess.
Brook, played by Jennifer Aniston, acts as a victim of a neglected girlfriend, whereas Gary, played by Vince Vaughn, acts as the "bad boyfriend" with a bad mouth. After a big argument over Gary not helping her clean the house and not spending enough time with her, Brook decides to break up with Gary in hopes of changing him. However, her plan backs fire because he becomes dysfunctional and unable to keep anything orderly. He leaves his possessions on his "side" of the house, which is in the living room and he tries to do everything possible to annoy Brook.
Though this movie is meant to be hilarious, it is actually unfunny and a real pain to sit through this film for an hour and forty-three minutes. Perhaps the only anticipation one may have is whether or not their real estate friend is able to sell their apartment and when the movie is ever going to come to an end. Just like the entire movie, the ending was also awful because it was inconclusive.
Unlike Vaughn's The Wedding Crashers, this movie is not filled with laughter nor does it makes the audiences want to be engaged in the movie. Instead, Vaughn has made a big mistake writing this bad script because it is a movie that is bound to fall apart.
