Veronica Brown scored in the Colts' victory.

"It felt really good to win," said team member Veronica Brown, a senior. "It's a good start. Now we just need to keep it up in the second half of the season."

Logan's Melissa Munoz had a phenomenal game, scoring 13 of Logan's goals. Also contributing goals to the Colt effort were Jennifer Manry, who scored four times, Sarah Brown with two, and Veronica Brown, with one.

Brown said her scoring shot was "garbage shot" made of a rebound close to American's goal. "I was fighting their goalie about two feet out" when she pushed the ball in the goal.

Logan goalkeeper Tatjana Baker and Mariah Schieck saved 12 American shots from being goals, with Baker saving 10 herself.

Logan is now 1-4 in Mission Valley Athletic League play and American remains winless in league games at 0-5.
