Fresh off a disappointing defeat at the hands of Cardinal Newman High School in Santa Rosa Saturday with the team took personally, the varsity football Colts are preparing to get back on the winning track against American High School Friday.

The Colts, 1-2 in non-league play, started out with a good drive during the first half, but they fell behind during the second half. They ended the game with a score of 13-31.

"We take this loss personally," said Logan's team captain Keagan Wethington, "We put so much effort into this game, and in the end we just didn't make it."

"To prepare for our next game, we ll do what we ve been doing: watching tapes, working hard, and not slacking off during a game," Logan team captain Mark Taylor said. "This time we ll just do it with renewed effort. Hopefully this week we ll be far more successful."

The Cardinals kicked off to the Colts, who then put together a 77-yard drive to a touchdown by running back Rashad Evans, bringing the score to 7-0. Despite the Cardinals good offense, the Colt's defense forced them to punt from the 45-yard line.

Just as the Colts were closing in on their second touchdown, a fumble by Dejon Gomes sent the Cardinals well on their way to their first touchdown.

The fumble was understandable, said Wethington. Dejon was playing both running back and free safety. By the end of the game he was completely exhausted and Tuesday complained of a toe injury.

During the second quarter, Logan reclaimed the lead with their second touchdown by Evans. However, these were the last points put in the board for Logan. The Cardinals went on to score 24 more points in the second half.
