Funeral services for Logan freshman Julian Gutierrez, who died Saturday, will be held Thursday at the Corpus Christi Church at 37891 Second St., in the Niles district of Fremont.

A viewing and vigil will be held from 5-8 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m.
Eulogies will be given during the viewing and vigil period.

On Friday at 11:30 a.m., a mass will be held at the church, followed by a memorial gathering in the church hall.
Gutierrez' parents and brother have requested that his service be a celebration of his life and that his friends and family wear sports jerseys and other attire to the viewing and service. (Any team except America soccer team, please, to honor Julian's preferences.) Attendees are requested to forgo wearing black (except Oakland Raiders gear) or America soccer team gear.

Flowers are welcome and should be sent to Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont.

Donations can be made in his name to St. Jude Children's Hospital, one of Julian's preferred charities.

In the funeral announcement, Julian's family revealed that his organs were donated "to benefit the lives of others."

I am deeply touched by the loss of Julian. I coached him for 3 years and he was a very good kid. I am honored to have been a part of Julian's life. Let's all get together and celebrate his life.
