James Logan High School was bustling with excitement as they entered their annual spirit week. Red, white and black banners were waved and students participated in dressing up for theme days, but what of the naysayers? Though there was clearly much spirit filling the halls and classrooms of the school, many didn't see fit to honor the occasion.

One student, sophomore Anjali Shelopal said: "The topics were just uninteresting to me, except for twin day. I wanted to dress up, but I didn't have a twin. I didn't even have anything to wear for all the different themes!"

When asked what sort of themes that might be more preferable to the student body Shelopal said, "We should have, like, a Michael Jackson theme next year. Or maybe we could have a famous couples day, like Brangelina!"

James Langley, also a sophomore, said, " I don't know, I guess it's just because I didn't really like the themes.I didn't like the class colors either and even if I did, I couldn't find a green shirt."

Although some students couldn't dress for the event, others were more candid about their reasoning.

"I don't have school spirit. I hate this school," said junior Rebecca Holliday. "I really just don't care what they do for spirit week, as long as they don't make me participate."

It is clear that not everyone has a positive outlook on showing enthusiasm and spirit for being at Logan, but hopefully in the future the school can celebrate as a whole.

Well, I never had exceptionally amazing school spirit at all, but during my time at Logan, I only dressed up if I found the theme fun. Honestly, no matter what the theme is, there are going to be people who like it, and people who don't like it. As for hating the school... well, there are other schools. As much as I complained about Logan sometimes, I'm still glad I graduated from the school. At least, there's nothing about the school that I can pinpoint as a reason for me to dislike it.
