Kesha, or to be more creative, Ke$ha is a new upcoming artist in the music world that has become an insta-star. And though Kesha is new to the solo artist scene, many might have heard her in Flo Rida’s single “Right Round”. Her hit single “Tik Tok” is currently being played on almost every radio station in the country. It’s also rumored that her single sold about 610,000 copies, making it the biggest selling single week of a song ever by a female artist.
Kesha was born in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. Her mother, Pebe Sebert, was a single parent, and a singer and songwriter. Her family was financially struggling and had to rely on welfare payments and food stamps. Her mother, however managed to secure a publishing deal in Nashville, Tennessee, and so they moved. Her mother also taught Kesha how to sing and write songs. By age 17, Kesha dropped out of high school after being convinced by underground artist Dr. Luke, impressed by her demos, to move back to LA. He then began flying her to New York and LA to record music.
While Kesha has accomplished a lot in such a short amount of time, she’s constantly criticized for her self-labeled “garbage chic” sense of style, which for some reason, highly resembles outfits Lady Gaga would be seen sporting. She has created a party girl image for herself, and it is mostly criticized by the male gender. Most girls seem to be neutral towards her, but some also harshly criticize her, saying she “puts a bad image on girls her age”. Current controversy claims that she has stated she’s bisexual, however there isn’t enough media proof of it. However, on her site, keshasparty.com there is a video of her digging through clothing donation boxes in Germany, looking for a new outfit. Odd, humorous, and ballsy, Kesha brings a whole new meaning to the word “rebel”. Find more random, strange things about Kesha on her website, www.keshasparty.com.
