This year is one of the most exciting years in Union City and at Logan. Logan will be celebrating, big time, with many events this weekend. This is the 50th anniversary of Union City being established as a city, and of Logan as the only public high school in Union City.

Firstly, there will be a homecoming game on Friday, November 13 at 7 p.m. There will be a show by the Marching band and the Colorguard at halftime, so surely if football is not your thing, you should go for the band performance and the Colorguard, as well, not to mention the Homecoming Floats which are sure to impress. After the game there will be a “Meet and Greet” where food, like cake and refreshments will be provided,. This would be a good time to socialize and meet other students and families that you do not normally see during a hectic school day.

On Saturday, there will also be some food and performances from various clubs available in Logan starting at 3 p.m. Clubs participating include the Humanitarian Assistance Club, Ballet Folklorico, BSU Step Team, Garden Club, Punjabi Club, Sikh Club, Key Club, M.E.C.H.A, Polynesian Club, Interact, Japanime, Breast Cancer Awareness, Sustainability Club, Afghan Club, JLHS Jazz Choir, and many more. They will be fundraising by selling refreshments, or giving various forms of fun and entertainment, so that they can show what the true core of their club is.

On Saturday there will also be the famous, very traditional Homecoming Dance. Tickets can be bought at the door for $10, or, if you are quick, they will be sold at today's lunches for $10 or $8 with an ASB sticker. Doors close at 9:00 p.m, so please get there on time. This dance will be bigger than the previous ones because of the 50th Anniversary spectacular. Come along, dance, and have fun with other students and alumni.

Not only are Homecoming events happening, but also a really great play, put together by the Drama department. It is called “12 Angry Jurors”, and it will be playing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $7 or $5 with an ASB sticker. They will be sold at the door of the Little Theater. Friday and Saturday show times are 7 p.m., and on Sunday it will be playing at 2:00 p.m. This play was made with tons of hard work on the behalf of the department, like the director, Drama teacher Debbie Hughes, and the many Drama students and others who give their time to make sure this is a play you surely will not forget.

So, if the Homecoming hype and football craze is not what you are interested in, come and join the actors in “12 Angry Jurors” and watch the play. Everyone is welcome to these events, so bring your family and invite your friends to join the clubs or go to the dance on Saturday, or watch a surely fantastic football game on Friday.
