The James Logan boy's volleyball team beat American High School in Mission Valley Athletic League play, Tuesday.

The match was tough as it went to the fifth game as Logan came from behind to take the victory. As the temperature cooled down, the Logan boys heated up. Falling behind by two games (21-25, 18-25) began to look like the boys were going to be swept for the second straight time at an away game.

When asked why Logan struggled in the beginning Aniq Masood, Varsity Captain, said, "It was probably the line-up change. In the first two games American came out with a lot of energy and capitalized on our mistakes. We had people playing in different positions then normal, and they took every advantage of every chance they had to get points." Josh Barrina, a junior, further reiterated the same point when he said, "I think that the main change between games one and two, compared to the last three games were that the first two games we didn't go all out. In game three, we realized that we might lose, it became all or nothing."

As the third game started, on the brink of defeat, Logan's play picked up. Aniq Masood said, "our will, our determination and most importantly energy went up during the third game." The newfound energy lead the charge as James Logan swept the last three games (25-18, 25-18, 15-13) to come from behind and pull out the win. The important of this inter-league game was that "we needed the win to maintain our second seed for MVAL playoffs" as said by Aniq Masood.

In the end, James Logan High School defeated American High School in five games (21-25, 18-25, 25-18, 25-18, 15-13). Some of the game leaders were: Aniq Masood (20 kills, 15 digs, 5 blocks), Minh Ngo (43 assists, 11 digs), Dan Dario (12 kills), Henry Lam (14 digs).

On Saturday, April 25h, the Logan Colts travel to Foothill to partake in the Foothill Invitational where conference rivals Washington High School and Mission San Jose will also be competing. The next one on one game Logan participates in is they Senior Night. On Wednesday, April 29th, Logan takes on Castro Valley High at Logan (6:00pm).
