Jonas Dino, Kevin Harper and Michelle Matthews were sworn in Tuesday night as members of the Board of Education – Mr. Dino for his third term, Mr. Harper for his second and Ms. Matthews for her first – and the new Board elected Gertrude Gregorio as President and Gwen Estes as Clerk.

Before the meeting, a reception was held in honor of Mr. Dino, Mr. Harper and Ms. Matthews. An Aztec dance group from Decoto, “Olin Nauhauc,” performed at the invitation of Ms. Matthews.

New Superintendent Kari McVeigh, attending her first meeting, was welcomed by the Board.

The Board also determined appointments on standing committees:
• Regional Occupational Program (ROP) Board: Kevin Harper (Jonas Dino alternate).
• Alameda County School Boards Association: Michelle Matthews (Jonas Dino alternate).
• Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) Policy Board: Gertrude Gregorio (Kevin Harper alternate).
• California Interscholastic Federation/North Coast Section: Gwen Estes.
• Board of Education/City Council Sub-Committee: Getrude Gregorio and Gwen Estes.

The Board voted to continue to meet on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, starting at 7:30 p.m. The schedule for January through June:
• January 20; February 3 and 17; March 3 and 17; April 21; May 5 and 19; June 2 and 16. (There will be no meeting on January 6 and April 7).
