Recently, many High School Seniors who attend James Logan or Conley-Caraballo have received newsletters home regarding the New Haven Schools Foundation Scholarship Program for the 2008 school year. For many years, this program has been designed to help students with financial needs and provide them with an opportunity to earn money for college.

Their mission statement reads, “The mission of the New Haven Schools Foundation is to harness the vitality of our richly diverse community through a partnership of parents, educators, business people and community volunteers, by providing vision, leadership and financial support to ensure that each child receives the best educational experience possible.”

The New Haven Schools Foundation holds various scholarships varying from all different qualifications that can meet any student’s standards. Awards that are given range from five hundred to five thousand dollars. All scholarships require a filled up application along with a letter. Many require additional paper work, such as letters of recommendations, current transcripts or records of performed community service.

Application forms were available for pick up in the James Logan Career Center or Conley-Carballo’s front office beginning February 4, 2008. The deadline for all scholarship applications is Friday February 29, 2008 by 3:45 pm. There will be no incomplete or late forms accepted. Seniors will be noticed in late March about their application results.
