Students dressed up as executives, superheroes and more Thursday as Spirit Week moved toward its climax with this afternoon's rally, the Homecoming Game against JFK High School, and the Homecoming Dance.

Thursday was “CEO Day” for seniors; “Plaid Day” for juniors; “Pajama Day” for sophomores; and “Superhero Day” for freshmen.

The Class of ’08 got businesslike for “CEO Day.” Seniors dressed in pinstriped suits and pencil skirts strutted from class to class. Some went the whole nine yards and carried briefcases in place of backpacks. Senior Rickey Gonzalez was ready for the’s theme, even though he missed other theme days. “I didn’t even know about Spirit Week until Thursday,” he said chuckling “It’s cool, though, I’ve got a lot of suits.”

The junior theme of dress was “Plaid Day.” Though many juniors dressed up, their spirits were low. Cameron Erickson dressed and painted his face, but admitted that he was let down by today’s theme. “After Safari and Greek Day, today was kind of boring. But I guess it was easier than the other themes.”

Sophomores were more than happy to come to school in their pj’s, since it was “Pajama Day.” Wearing their jammies, and dragging their blankies, Class of ’10 proudly displayed their school spirit. Dressed in their sleeping gear, Zacara Duncan and Teaerra Webb dreamt of Spirit Weeks of the past. “Last year’s spirit days were better,” said Webb.

Duncan agreed, and added, “”Rockstar Day” was the best, but today’s cool, too.”

The freshmen class observed “Superhero Day,” but few actually dressed for the occasion. The few and proud who did included Aundrea Hamby, Ramina Barajas and Brittany Garza. “Today was the best day!” Ramina exclaimed when asked if she liked today’s theme. Her friends were a bit less enthusiastic.

“It’s okay. The Freshman days weren’t that great.” Aundrea Hamby said half-heartedly.

Many teachers donned Hawaiian shirts to display their school spirit.

i think next year, spirit week needs to have more hype, posters and banners should be up weeks before. The themes for each day should be listed a week in advance so students have more time to prepare. Who decorated the floates? Could anyone have helped? I didn't even know anything about the floats until Wednesday.

Dear "Freshman":

FYI: Publicity for dress up days were posted the week before Spirit Week and announcements were made on Logan Live. We did have the themes planned about 3 weeks before, so next time I will suggest that they produce smaller signs in advance. The larger posters seem to fall, be torn down, or just disappear, as it happend this year.

As for float building, announcements through Logan Live and publicity posters were posted up about a month ago inviting students to come to Room 305 to pick up float-building schedules and directions. Anyone can help.

I would also like to publicize through the Courier, but this being my first year, and with all the changes this year, I just haven't been able to do everything I want.

Thank you for your concern.

Batman agrees with Mr. Rojas. Batman did see the flyers before spirit week. although Batman would like to suggest getting votes from the majority of the class for the themes of spirit week instead of just having the students in leadership. perhaps then, we would get results that satisfy most of the students. for example, Batman wonders where in the world Jazzercise came from.
