Local independent coffee shop Paddy's Coffee House will be keeping its doors open late nights to accommodate students during the final exam season.

Until June 15th, Paddy's will be open around the clock from Saturday to Thursday. On Fridays and on Memorial Day (May 28th), the coffee shop will close at 10 PM.

"We decided to keep the shop open for 24 hours to enable the student community to have a conducive environment to study for their finals" said Paddy Iyer, owner of the coffee shop.

"I will definitely take advantage of the 24 hour service during finals.", Melissa Van Der Moost, Logan senior and regular customer of Paddy's, "My house isn't exactly a good place to study and I need somewhere [where it is] distraction free, even at those late hours at night."

"Paddy's has been a place where student can always come and study" said Rachel Aceberos, current Paddy's employee, "[With Paddy's] being open for 24 hours, students can always find a place where it will be convenient for them to study."

Iyer did not run into any problems as far as getting employees to work the late hours.

"We did not have difficulties implementing this plan.", said Iyer, "We worked and arranged the schedules such that everyone is able to fill in."

All items on the menu will be available during the late hours.

Paddy's is located on 3900 Smith Street in the Old Alvarado area of Union City. For more information, visit www.paddyscofee.com.

You don't have to be a freshman to be in Spanish 1 class...

Sounds like a great idea from Paddy's though.
