Logan's Boys Varsity Volleyball team beat down Head-Royce last Friday, winning the match in three straight games

The boys were pumped up for the match, coming of a victory against Amador Valley the previous night.

The team won the first game handily, 25-20, but Head-Royce fought back a bit in the second game, with Logan eking out a two-point win, 25-23. In the final game, Logan dominated the Oakland school, 25-18.

Throughout the match, Logan's boys played hard, overcoming some early mistakes. Coach Mike Soltau huddled with the team to coach them through it. They soon got their rhythm back and got the first game win. Big points were made by Robert Barber and Alex Retiro, both outside hitters.

During the second game, Hunter Hayden (a middle blocker), was able to execute excellent blocks and even slam over Head-Royce's defense. Minh Ngo, Logan's only freshman on the team, was put in as setter for the game.

"I was nervous, but excited to go on the court at the same time." said Ngo.

By the third game, the boys were nearly unstoppable and at the top of their game.

At the end of their match, both teams congratulated each other

Once everything was complete Coach Mike Soltau had a team chat. " A wins a win,but it was ugly," said Coach Soltau, " We made a lot of mistakes that we need to fix, so when league comes around, we'll be ready."
