When I first saw the previews of this movie, I was interested, but at first, I didn't quite get what the movie was all about right off the bat. When I finally went to go see it, it was much longer and more interesting than I had expected. DeNiro has really outdone himself.
Matt Damon plays a CIA agent rather well; he's serious about his work and a little surprising at times. There were times, however, that Damon was downright cold.
Angelina Jolie, surprisingly, works well with her role. From the commercials, I thought she was a little too wild compared to Matt Damon's calm character, but she really brings out the emotion of a wife who feels shut out and doesn't have a complete relationship with and understanding of her husband. Great peformance.
Robert DeNiro, of course, is great. It's a nicely added touch to an already good movie.
While I wouldn't say it's as factual as the History Channel, the subject of the movie does give good insight on the history of the CIA. People who are into government, politics and history will like the storyline. It focuses quite a bit on his family relationship and how it is affected by his job in the CIA, and I'm sure any couple who has been in a similar situation would understand it.
Overall, the movie was better than I thought and I would recommend it to movie-goers, especially those who like suspense...and any of the main characters.
