The following is a listing of current scholarship applications which are available for pick-up in the Career Center. This list is intended to give a brief synopsis of the most pertinent information for each scholarship or award. If a scholarship looks interesting, go to the career center to pick up a hardcopy application (located in the money box), or, if listed under the on-line portion of this list, apply directly using the stated web-site. Please note the deadlines, and that scholarships targeting only a certain population will have noted a specific requirement.
Most of these scholarships are for seniors; last year’s class of 2005 was awarded 144 scholarships. Scholarships for juniors, sophomores and freshmen are noted at the end of this list.

If you are thinking of joining the military and getting a college degree this may be the perfect opportunity for you. This scholarship pays for your full tuition, books and gives you a monthly stipend (living expense monies). It does require that you be a U.S. citizen, pass a navy physical, and have SAT scores at or above 530 verbal/520 math or ACT 22 math/22 English.

Must be a senior at a Fremont, Newark or Union City High School, and have taken instrumental or vocal lessons, as well as participated in two or more public recitals. You will need to audition (2 performances of 3 mins. each) (award $250)
LOV - Dan & Marie Archer Art Scholarship 4-10-06
Must be a senior at a Newark, Union City or Fremont High School, and have taken at least one class on photography, painting or drawing. You will need to submit 3 of your finished products for judging (2 awards = $250 ea; 1 for photo and 1 for paint/drawing)

For Vietnamese descent high school seniors with financial hardship (copy of your parents’ 2005 tax return). Have a min. GPA of 3.5, and attend college in Summer or Fall 2006. Complete a 3 page application, 2 letters of recommendation,your official transcripts and SAT or ACT scores. (multiple awards = $1,000 ea)

Strictly for students pursuing an education in performing arts. There are 3 separate categories for which to apply, Voice, Acting, and Dance; all applicants will need to submit and entry form and a 3 min. recording of their performance. Winners must enroll in an accredited post-secondary institution within 1 year of receiving the scholarship award. (3 awards = $10,000 ea)
Ligurians in the World Scholarship 4-15-06
Applicants must be of Italian descent, and planning on attending a 2 or 4 yr college after high school graduation. Together with your application you will also need to submit an essay on any aspect of Ligurian culture, history or traditions, your transcript, and a wallet size graduation photo. (multiple awards = $1,000 ea)
League of Filipino-American Veterans 5-26-06
For college-bound seniors who are Filipino-American descent, and are proactively involved in extracurricular school activities and serving their community. (multiple awards = $500 ea)
JCCNC (Japanese Chamber of Commerce of No. Calif) 6-9-06
For Bay Area seniors who are U.S. citizens with Japanese ancestry or legal Japanese residents of the U.S. and will be attending an accredited college or university as a full-time student in Fall 2006. Other requirements include that you have attained a min. 3.3 GPA and demonstrated academic interests in the study of U.S. - Japan relationships. (2 awards = $2,000 ea)
Wa Sung Community Service Club 4-17-06
For seniors of Asian descent, residing in Alameda County and beginning college in Fall 2006. This scholarship will be awarded based on academic achievement, and involvement in extra-curricular and community service work; financial need will also be considered. (up to 12 awards = $ 1,000 ea.)
PG&E - Filipino Employees Assoc. 4-28-06
This scholarship is open to ALL college-bound seniors applying to both 2 or 4 year colleges. Requirements includes that you have a min GPA of 3.50 and be an active participant in your school and community. (10 awards = $1,000 ea)

This scholarship is in recognition of our former superintendent for 21 years, Mr. Guy Emanuele. To qualify must be a graduating senior of Logan, planning on attending either a 2 or 4 year college, with a GPA of 3.0 or better, and have accumulated a minimum of 300 hours of community service. James Logan Family Scholarship 4-28-06
Offered by the descendants of Mr. James Logan, a Union City farmer and landowner, the applicant for this scholarship must be a Union City resident, have a min GPA of 3.0, and pursue either a teaching or nursing degree at a 4 year university. (1 award = $500)
Peter Mendoza Memorial Scholarship 4-28-06
In memory of their son Peter Mendoza, an ex-Logan student, the Mendoza family is offering a scholarship to any 2006 graduate planning on attending a trade/vocational school 2 or 4 year college. You must have a financial need and submit a photo of yourself.
