Recently there has been a great deal of information circulated within our District about "declining enrollment."
This "declining enrollment" is being used to justify budget cuts. Numbers are being circulated purporting to demonstrate large losses of income to NHUSD as a result of this phenomenon.

To graduate from James Logan High School, a student must pass the California High School Exit Exam, but this year about 100 seniors failed it. This June, some of those who failed will be allowed to "walk the stage" anyway.

James Logan’s First annual Community Service Fair was held in the Colt Court Monday afternoon, giving students a chance to find a way to complete a graduation requirement while lend a caring hand to our community.

"Isn't it that gay cowboy movie?" is the question I'm most often asked after I mention that Ang Lee's Brokeback Mountain is one of my favorite movies. As irritating as the question may be to me, I'm forced to admit that yes, Brokeback Mountain is a movie about two cowboys who happen to be gay. But there's so much more to it than that.
The DVD hit stores Tuesday, even with the film still in theatrical release.

The Board of Education on Tuesday night received a report from Superintendent Dr. Pat Jaurequi on staging for the first two years of the Strategic Plan. The Plan, conceived by the community and adopted by the Board to drive budgeting and decision-making for the next five years, includes 54 "action plans," half of which are to be implemented during the first two years. A copy of the Plan can be viewed on the District website (www.nhusd.k12.ca.us).
