In Victorian-era Europe, a young boy loses everything he once held near and dear to a vicious plot. In his moment of death, he strikes a deal with a demon: his soul, in exchange for revenge. Ciel Phantomhive becomes the head of the Phantomhive Corporation, handling all business affairs as well as the underground work for the Queen of England. His new partner is a demon butler, Sebastian Michaelis, whose powers as a butler is only surpassed by his strength as a demon.
The story follows the two main characters - as well as their other servants - as they work to unravel the plot behind Ciel’s parent’s murder, and the horrendous tragedies that befell Ciel in the month directly after.
Now I will admit, I’m not a fan of anime but one of my good friends wouldn’t shut up about this show. After being annoyed of hearing about the “one hell of a butler” Sebastian, I decided to give the show a try and to my surprise, I fell in love with it. It’s dark, mysterious and a compelling show. I could watch it all day. It has two seasons out right now that can be watched online.
If you’re an anime fan and have not heard of Black Butler, I highly recommend you watch it. The only negative thing I have to say about this TV show is that the shows are twenty minutes each, which is way to short in my opinion. I wish they were longer but overall, one of the very best animations ever to be created.
